The Texas Democratic Party (TDP) is hiring a Data Assistant to join the TDP Data
Department. The Data Department’s mission is to guide the party and Texas campaigns in
making efficient, data-driven decisions.
 
The Data Assistant will work with the Data Director to implement the TDP Data plan for the
2014 election cycle.
This role is ideal for someone with campaign Field experience who is looking to “break into”
Data. As the Data Assistant gains experience, they will be entrusted with progressively
greater responsibilities.
Duties will include:
• Administering TexasVAN
• Assisting campaigns and others with data support
• Special projects (list matching, data cleanup, etc.)
• Processing new VAN account applications
• Conducting trainings both in-person and via webinar
• Other tasks as needed
Essential Qualifications:
• Sociable – Strong written and verbal communication skills
• VAN Adept – Experience using VAN in an electoral or issue-advocacy campaign
• Experienced – At least 1 cycle of experience as a Field Organizer or similar role
• Problem-solver – Able to overcome setbacks to get a project done
• Hungry – Eager to develop skills in the pursuit of the enormous task of turning TX blue
Additional Qualifications which are a Plus:
• Advanced VAN – Experience as a VAN administrator
• Excel – Knowledge of advanced functions (beyond mathematical formulas)
• SQL
• GIS
• Web Design
• Python, Ruby, or similar programming languages
