Field Director
Kulkarni for Congress (Congressional District 22) – Sugar Land, TX
For the congresssional race, our field director will be at the very core of our campaign and at the frontline of spreading the candidate’s message, identifying supporters, and turning those supporters into voters on Election Day.
In order to do this, our Field Director must be able to execute on three primary objectives:
1. Recruit/oversee volunteers – our Field Director must be able to identify potential volunteers, get them into the office, and then get them excited about the assignment they’re given. A good field hand is able to identify likely pools of supporters and turn them into loyal blockwalkers. This requires excellent communication skills, the ability to multitask and patience.
2. Hit metrics – Specifically, this means building voter contacts. Each day there are certain goals to meet– and it’s the Field Director’s job to make sure that happens. Door knocks, phone calls, yard sign placements, precinct captain recruitment, etc. Anything and everything involved with the grassroots effort is the field director’s responsibility. In order to hit your metrics everyday you must stay focused on what matters but have the flexibility to embrace the unpredictable nature of the day-to-day. In other words, plan ahead but also realize that all plans are meant to be changed.
3. Represent – Our Field Director serves as the face of the organization, which means that having a strong presence in the community is essential. Specifically, this translates to attending events, speaking (sometimes to individuals, sometimes to large groups), and drumming up support.
